Metaphtonomies of Pain Conceptualized by Lubukusu Speakers in Doctor-Patient consultation

This paper reports on the findings of a study that focused use metaphtonomies pain in Lubukusu and investigated main attributions are attached to patients’ expression during doctor-patient consultation. Data were drawn from metaphors served as units analysis. The Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP) was used select expressions. data analysis representation through examination meanings. From collected, three categories emerged. These were; Direct Related Words based Sense Touch or Tangibility, sense Abstractness Intangibility, metaphor-related words. Further, it revealed communication mismatches occur instances where consultation between non-native doctor Lubukusu-speaking patients involved pain. Given this, there is need for medical practitioners stakeholders engage language scholars how address potential gaps healthcare discourses.
